Brent and Meagan are siblings that I had the pleasure of photographing over weekend.  Brent is a senior in Plano and gave me the opportunity to do his high school senior portrait.  He is my first senior portrait client and hopefully there will be many more because it was a lot of fun.  Brent’s sister was also there so I also did my first high school freshman portrait session.   Is there such a thing?  Maybe I will be the first to start it.  We’ll see.

These two were a blast to work with and never ran out of smiles for me.  They also did just about anything I asked them to do including act like the Karate Kid and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.  You will see what I am talking about when you see the picture.  Enjoy!

Ella turned three two weeks ago and I got to shoot her princess birthday party. Her parents are family friends and I got to shoot Ella’s brother’s birthday party a year ago. It’s amazing seeing how much they’ve grown in just one year. It just goes to show you how important pictures are during these times.

Ella is real daddies girl if you can’t tell from the first picture. Her dad showed that picture to everyone in his office when he got it. I think that is so cool. I can’t wait to shoot future birthday parties for this great family.

Three days and counting till my photo shoot with a model this weekend.

I have scouted out my locations in downtown Fort Worth, I have story boarded the shoot for maximum efficiency, and I have studied and re-studied my camera.  Am I missing anything?  I’m sure I am.  I’ll remember it eventually.

There is only so much preparation that a person can do though.  The real learning happens with experience.  What will be so great about this shoot is that the model is showing up to do what she does best (look good) and I am showing up to take great photos.  Between the two of us, we should both be able to make some art.

I am hoping to be able to convert this experience to working with some more models and working on some more projects including something that I am working on for a future website overhaul that I think will be, how to put it, different.  Not completely unique, but definitely different in the world of wedding photography.  You will have to stay tuned to find out what it is.

Laura and I spent most our day in downtown Fort Worth with our friends Kevin and Karen for a portrait session. I don’t think I have ever had more fun taking pictures…ever. They were so much fun and more than willing to make funny faces for me.

We started the evening out at the Corner Bakery just talking about things that were happening and the party we had at our house the night before. Kevin and Karen were able to make the party and had a good time.

Karen has such a witty sense of humor and if the topic is movies then she is the person to talk to. Kevin is just a lot of fun to be around and always laughing. The portrait session was also an opportunity for me to scout out some locations for my model shoot on the 12th.

Downtown Fort Worth is chock full of great photography locations.

We ended the evening at Barnes & Noble where I picked up a coffee table book of all of the Pulitzer Price winning photos with the stories behind them and how they were shot. – $8.00 (a steal)

Then, disaster struck! We were driving home and my ABS light came on, then my battery light came on, and then my radio shut off. Oh, no!

I lost my alternator.

So, we stopped at a Kwik Kar and left it there. My sister in law picked us up and drove us home. I think I’m going to have to figure out how to replace an alternator tomorrow. What an exciting day!
